A Bis'l Libe in the JHGC

I am pleased to announce that 6 songs from "A Bis'l Libe" are part of the permanent exhibition at the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre. I donated the songs which are in a room in the exhibition, entitled "The World That Was", highlighting what Jewish life was like before the Holocaust and tragically signifying the lives and richness that were lost.

It was wonderful to work with curator Lauren Segal in carefully picking and editing the songs and dividing them between two "sound columns". This is a clever technology that as you stand in front of the photographs and artifacts depicting Jewish life before the Holocaust, a speaker above you comes on automatically and begins playing the songs.

Thank you to Lauren and to Tali Nates, director of the Centre, for including these songs.

I highly recommend going to the Centre to see the permanent exhibitions on the Holocaust and the Rwandan Genocide. Its unique approach navigates the trauma and terror of these two terrible moments in recent history with delicacy and sophistication.

The CD "A Bis'l Libe is also available to purchase in the Centre's coffee and gift shop, Izzy's.
