About

My name is Leigh Nudelman Sussman and I have been learning and performing Yiddish songs for the last three years.

I am often asked, why? I want to share what I have discovered in these poignant Yiddish songs; to share "a bis'l libe" (a bit of love) for Jewish heritage and culture

And there is a lot to love about these songs. First, the music is diverse and beautiful; certainly worth a revisit. Second, the songs are vignettes filled with wit, wisdom, resilience, longing, sadness, pride, and of course, love. These universal ideas are ones which we in our current milieu can learn from. Lastly, and perhaps the most profoundly of all, learning about the context and history of these songs, and singing them, over and over, and over again, has given me a deep understanding of and connection to my Jewish heritage. "A Bis'l Libe" has been one of the most enriching projects I have ever pursued, and I hope by listening and watching, you might be enriched too.
